At The Health Partnership, our work often begins with a simple question: how can we help?
In December, our very own Ruth Lopez from our Integrated Community Care team began working with a family navigating ongoing medical needs for their daughter, who requires regular appointments in Denver. Reliable transportation was essential, but accessing support proved to be far more complex than expected.
Due to language barriers, coordinating medical transportation services became incredibly challenging. Despite multiple attempts, the family continued to face roadblocks that made it difficult to secure consistent and dependable travel.
The next step was to explore repairing their existing vehicle. After an evaluation, the cost was estimated at $3,000, on top of the $2,000 the family had already invested just months prior. It became clear that continued repairs were not a sustainable solution.
What followed was a coordinated effort rooted in persistence and advocacy. Over time, our team was able to secure $9,569 in grant funding to support the purchase of a reliable vehicle.
Finding the right vehicle came with its own challenges, including missed opportunities and limited availability. Through partnership with Victory Motors, and the support of Brian Yanez, the right fit was finally found.
This past weekend, the family received their vehicle.
This moment represents more than transportation. It represents access to care, reduced stress, and the ability to move forward with greater stability.
